Kosciusko County is known for its lakes and as a result, exciting fishing. Over 100 lakes, carved from glaciers, provide lots of quality lakes for fishing. Both the largest natural lake, Lake Wawasee, and the deepest natural lake, Lake Tippecanoe, in Indiana are located in Kosciusko County.
Quality Lakes
One of the reasons K-County is famous for its fishing and lakes is due to the Lilly Center for Lakes and Streams. The Lilly Center works to research, educate, and collaborate with local organizations to keep our lakes healthy.
The Elusive Muskellunge
The Muskellunge, or Muskie for short, is the largest native fish in Indiana. They can grow longer than 50 inches and weigh more than 40 pounds (DNR). There are thirteen lakes in Indiana with muskie populations, and three are in Kosciusko County.
